PTP - 2002 edition

Vocational Training Pays Off

Recent online courses have been available to residents of the Peacock Islands. Business owners and employees have been encouraged to take advantage of these offers. For all Peacock Isle residents Practical business training will be free of charge until the end of simyear 2007 (simday7). After such time, each class resulting in a badge will have a tuition of $1000.

The first person to be able to take advantage of the generous offer from Peacock Isle Institute online was Charles Zephyr. He filled out the paperwork and just by completing a certain number of sales interactions with his own customers and writing a short review of each one he was able to get a bronze sales badge.

"Sales is what I do. If I can't sell, my business dies. I've found analyzing how to sell bakeries to my customers might also translate over well to my personal life as well," said Charles Zephyr when asked how he felt about taking a course. "It was easy and hope more people have the opportunity to take theses course while they are still free."

Charles Zephyr: I'm glad to see the work of the Sim Historical Preservation Society is beginning to pay off. Tourism is beginning to pick up and the grants have helped businesses to flourish. I hope things can continue this way for our little sea town.

Sunrise Bakery Review

Laela Catnip here, roving review reporter for the greater island area. Sunrise bakery, last years winner of the Letourneau prize is a great way to spend the morning. The coffee is always fresh, and the baked goods delicious. Some of the wedding cakes are imported from the mainland but the baked pumpkin treats, this seasons' delicacy is made on site. Expensive? Well yes but worth every simoleon. Then once your hunger is satisfied go upstairs and watch local artisans at work or stay for a pottery class and take home your own souvenir plate. Top that off with an attentive owner and you have the recipe for a wonderful day.

Letourneau Prize Winner
Craftables won the prize of $1,000 for outstanding service to the community and "specialty good from local markets and artisans". The Peacock Isles need to turn the economy around, and to do that they need stores with good that the people of the islands contribute to making. We cannot sell just anything and expect good sales. "Beatrice Zephyr makes a commitment to sell local wares and the people that buy from her know it.

Scientists bring Tech to Islands

A group of scientists are researching the archeological findings of the Peacock Isle Institute and will be residing at Belleverde Apartments as visitors while performing computer enhanced analysis of the substrata. They have now started offering demonstrations and even practical exercises to interested children in the Area. Juan Harris said, "It was so cool to see the coin on the screen and know it was under the soil. My friend Alrick was a whiz getting the image program to focus on what he wanted. My friends on the mountain will be so jealous!"
